Laos has made it easier for travellers to apply for visas by introducing the Laos eVisa system. This online system allows visitors to apply for a visa to enter Laos from the comfort of their homes or offices, eliminating the need to visit a Lao embassy or consulate in person. The eVisa system is available for those travelling for tourism, business, or transit purposes and permits a stay of up to 30 days in Laos.

Applying for a Laos eVisa 

The procedure for applying for a Laos eVisa is straightforward. Just follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Applicant Registration

You must “Apply for Laos eVisa” to get registered. Add your basic information and travel details, and ensure you have entered all details accurately, including your personal phone number and email ID, as all eVisa updates will be sent to those addresses. Once completed, click ‘Register’ on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

Step 2: Fill the Main Application Form

After completing registration, you are brought to the main application form. You are required to provide your personal details, passport information, occupation, and eVisa type. The form also asks for your residential address, the vehicle you are arriving on, the port you are arriving at, and the address during your visit in Laos.

Step 3: Add Applicants and Select Processing Speed

Once you have completed the main application form, the application also provides an option for adding even more applicants to the form by selecting the “Add Applicant” button. Below the option, 3 Processing Speed options are available: Standard, Rush, and Super Rush. Selecting any one will determine how quickly you will receive your eVisa. Then select the ‘Submit and Preview’ button.

Step 4: Review Your Application

Just before you are required to select and submit your documents, the system provides you with one final look at all your details, allowing you to review each slot and ensure you have added everything to its designated place. If you notice any errors in your work, you can edit them without too much hassle and confirm that everything is in order before continuing to the next step.

Step 5: Upload Documents

Once you reach this step, you are required to attach all the required documents for the Laos eVisa for the eVisa application submission. You must ensure the documents you upload are high-quality, easy to understand, and up to date.

Step 6: Pay for the eVisa

After submitting all required documents, you have reached the payment phase, where you must pay the Laos eVisa fee. Select a payment method: a credit/debit card or an online service such as PayPal or cryptocurrency. As soon as your payment is processed, your eVisa application will begin processing.

Step 7: Receive Updates and Your eVisa

Once your eVisa application enters the processing stage, you get your eVisa status updates at your registered email address. This helps you know exactly how far along your eVisa is and when you can expect it in your email. Depending on the processing option you choose, you may receive your eVisa within a couple of days to a week at your registered email address.
